Pyramid

Overview

The Pyramid is an ongoing competition among RoboRacer players. The object is to try to move as high up in the pyramid as you can by defeating opponents above you. Anyone can join the pyramid by clicking the "Join" button in the Pyramid tab. A newly joining bot will start at the bottom of the pyramid with no Challenge Points.

Rankings

The pyramid is ordered starting at the top, then reading from left to right across each following row, and ending with the right-most bot in the bottom row. To move up in the pyramid you need to challenge and defeat a bot ahead of you, which will cause you to swap locations with the bot you defeat. If you are challenged by a bot below you and defeat your challenger you retain your position and earn a Challenge Point.

You can see other players Challenge Point total by hovering your cursor over a bot image in the pyramid. Click on a bot in an active game to view the game. Click on a bot who is not involved in a challenge to place a challenge.

Challenge Points

Challenge points can be used to challenge a bot higher up on the pyramid as follows:

0 points: Any bot on your row (or 1 row above "to your right")

1 point: 1 row above (or 2 rows above "to your right")

2 points: 2 rows above (3)

4 points: 3 rows above (4)

8 points: 4 rows above (5)

And the cost doubles for each row above.

A bot is "to your right" if it is reachable from your position by travelling only right and diagonally up&right to reach it.

Placing a Challenge

To place a challenge, click on the bot in the pyramid that you'd like to challenge. Your points will be paid immediately and the challenged bot will need to accept or decline the challenge.

Revoking a Challenge

If you later decide to withdraw a challenge, it can be revoked from the pyramid tab - but you will only be refunded half the points paid, rounded down. If the challenge was free, it will cost 1 point to revoke the challenge.

Accepting a Challenge

The challenged player can accept the challenge by clicking the "Accept" button at the bottom of the pyramid and picking the game settings. Ladder game creation requires at least 3 lives, and set time limits of 3 days/move, 14 days/game...but the rest of the settings can be chosen by the challenged player.

Declining a Challenge

The challenged player can decline a challenge by clicking the "Decline" button at the bottom of the pyramid and paying back the cost of the challenge to the challenger.
